The Challenge

A homeowner looking for electric hardwood gates in Langton Green needed a complete entrance solution that combined long-term durability, classic styling, and reliable automated vehicle access. The property’s rural character called for natural materials that would make a strong first impression while sitting comfortably within the surrounding landscape. The boundary fencing also needed to be practical and in keeping with the overall entrance design.

Our Approach

We used Iroko timber for the gates – one of the most dependable hardwoods for external use, with natural resistance to weathering that makes it particularly well suited to rural locations. Its rich grain gives a finished gate a beautiful visual presence. Solid oak gate posts were chosen to complement the timber and provide a stable, long-lasting support structure.

For automation, we selected Roger Technology above-ground gate operators, a reliable and widely trusted system that offers smooth daily performance and straightforward servicing – a well-suited choice for a timber gate construction in a residential setting.

To complete the entrance, we specified chestnut post and rail fencing along the boundary. This traditional fencing style defines the property edge cleanly without disrupting the open feel of the site, and pairs naturally with the hardwood gate materials.

The Installation

The Iroko gates were manufactured to size and finished with a protective oil to bring out the timber’s natural tones and improve weather resistance. The oak gate posts were set carefully to ensure a solid, level foundation capable of supporting the gates over the long term.

The Roger Technology automation was mounted and calibrated on site, with all components tested to confirm smooth and secure operation. The system gives the homeowner reliable, straightforward control over vehicle access without unnecessary complexity.

The chestnut post and rail fencing was installed alongside the entrance, completing a cohesive boundary that feels natural to the setting. The combination of Iroko, oak, and chestnut creates a consistent use of traditional materials across the whole entrance.

Latest From Our Clients

  • James and Paul have done a wonderful job installing our two new sets of electric gates and secure fencing. We can’t rate Sussex Gate Services highly enough. They have a great work ethic and pay attention to detail and aesthetic. After-care is also good with the guys coming out twice to adjust the sensors and plug gaps in the fencing that the dog found and escaped through! We’ve even asked them to come back and quote for fencing in the rear garden. I would highly recommend this local company.
