A homeowner in Chelwood Gate wanted a traditional entrance gate that suited the character of their property without the need for automation. Our Approach

We recommended a manual Iroko hardwood gate. Iroko is one of the most reliable hardwoods for external use, naturally resistant to weathering and well-suited to the demands of a driveway entrance in the UK climate. It holds a finish consistently over time, making it a practical as well as attractive choice.

The gate was stained in a natural tone to preserve the visible grain of the timber while protecting the elements. We specified black ironmongery throughout – hinges, fixings, and a built-in letterbox – giving the finished gate a clean, classic contrast that works well against the warmth of the timber.

The Installation

The Iroko gate was manufactured to size and installed to ensure a precise fit and smooth manual operation. Staining was carried out on site to achieve an even, consistent finish across the full gate, complementing the surrounding features of the property.

The black ironmongery was fitted throughout, chosen for both its durability and its traditional appearance. The integrated letterbox was installed neatly within the gate structure, allowing post to be received securely without additional fixtures cluttering the entrance.

The result is a manually operated hardwood gate that makes a strong visual impression while remaining straightforward and dependable in daily use.
